RestBite

In collaboration with Healthy Families, we proposed a design solution to end food insecurity in Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland.

Our design solution is a student-operated community kitchen called Restbite, located on New Zealand university campuses. A partnership with Healthy Families and tertiary education institutions would facilitate Restbite's installation. This co-located communal cooking space's broader purpose is to instigate more profound cultural exchange and social interaction using nourishment and taste as meditators for these conversations. Students from various facilities are brought together within a space where hunger is the universal language to explore their relationship with cooking and eating in a new and convenient way that supports the social, intellectual, and financial needs of student living.
