Welcome to Schaar Sartor, my interdisciplinary portfolio promoting innovative practices and systemic transformation in the creative design industry.

With a background in fashion and sustainable design, my craftsmanship focuses on bespoke circular economy principles, creating lifetime products, and designing for inclusivity.

My approach to apparel design depicts witty and queer reinterpretations of historical attire, offering subversive commentaries that challenge conventional fashion consumption and production.

Recent achievements include presenting at Ahua Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2025 season and creating "Play Possum," a series of apparel that introduces a new methodology for circular design. Additionally, I developed Sanctum, a collection that reimagines 1920s androgynous tailoring.

If you would like to collaborate, explore, or commission Schaar Sartor, please review our work below and see if our philosophy aligns with your vision.

In addition to my endeavours in the fashion industry, my expertise extend into the wider design world. I’m particularly well versed in graphic design, 3D design, spatial initiatives, and magazine design.

My recent experinces and initiatives include K-kapehu, my graduate project focused on creative entrepreneurship; Restbite, a design proposal submitted to the Auckland Council to address food insecurity in Tāmaki Makaurau by initiating student-operated community kitchens across Aotearoa's tertiary education campuses; and Rukus, an A5 square print that explores subcultures in Aotearoa.

As an established freelance journalist and researcher, I have published in various print media, including Debate magazine and Ratworld Magazine. My focus is on research reports and investigative articles that explore complex topics from a design perspective, often infused with a humourous approach.
